Your First Episode or Blog Post
To create your first episode, click the + post link found at the top right corner of the publisher interface.
Edit Episode
In the Edit Episode screen, enter the data that is appropriate for each field. List of fields with descriptions follow.
It is important to note that you are creating a blog post. Blog posts may also be referred to as a podcast episode when media is attached to the post.
Publish Date – Date of your blog post.
Title – Title of your blog post.
Summary – Summary of your blog post. The summary is displayed in the <itunes:summary> portion of your podcast feed as well as on summary web page views.
Keywords – Blog post keywords or tags entered here. Keywords are used in web page tag clouds, search results and in the <itunes:keywords> portion of your podcast feed.
Content – This is the main portion of your blog post. The value here is used in the feed’s <content> field as well as the detailed view on web page views.
Connect Options – Options how each one of your blog posts ‘connects’ with your audience. Options outlined below.
- Twitter Subject – If your Twitter settings are configured, you can have your blog post or podcast epiosde title with web link sent to your Twitter stream.
- Ping Weblogs – Notify the most popular weblogs such as blogsearch.google.com of your most recent blog post.
- Newsletter – If configured, you can send your blog post to users who are subscribed to your newsletter.
Blog API (optional) – If you’ve configured the {cms_selflink page=”blog-api-settings” text=”Blog API”} in the settings portion of the Publishing system, you may use this option to send your blog post to the configured blog web site.
Type of Post – Indicate if the post you are creating is simply a blog post only or if you are creating a blog post with a podcst episode.
Media – Select a previously uploaded unpublished media file, enter a link (URL) to an already uploaded file or upload a new media file here. See screen shot below.
iTunes Parental Advisory – Select the advisory you would like for your podcast episode. Note, select ‘No’ if you do not wish to display any advisory, select ‘Yes’ to display a parential advisory and select ‘clean’ if you are confident the content requires no parential advisory.
Save Post
There are a number of options you may perform to save your blog post.
Publish – Saves and publishes your post so it is accessible to the public.
Schedule – Saves and schedules your post so it is accessible to the public at the specified date and time.
Save – Saves your post and returns you to the list of posts. Action does not change whether or not the post is publicly accessible.
Save & Continue Editing – Saves latest changes to your post and keeps you at the current screen for further editing. Action does not change whether or not the post is publicly accessible.
Cancel – Cancel the last changes you made and return to the list of posts.
